One of our favourite projects of the year is the James Cropper Christmas Card. The card is an opportunity to showcase their expertise in paper – often using newly launched products from that year. Below are a couple of the stand outs.
Graphic design, Illustration, Motion, Photography
For this card we had the privilege of working with Mark Cropper, who’s passion and knowledge of paper knows no bounds. The 3D scene was based on Kentmere valley where James Cropper is based. We worked with Imprimerie du Marais in Paris, to tailor the design and adjust for laser cutting. A limited edition, with 5 layers of laser cut detail and gold micro-foil.
We produced a second version for the company wide Christmas card. Three levels of deboss gave the landscape depth – with the micro-foil mill nestled within and subtle white used for the snow caps. If you look closely, you can see the impressions of the the footprints in the snow.
This three layered box allows the papers to show through and interact. The central star is embellished with two types of micro-foil and there is clear varnish dot work to the front.
Six variations of the 2020 card were made – for friends and employees based in the UK and across the pond. The metallic print illustration may steal the show, but the real star is the Papergard treated paper stock – which reduces the viability of COVID-19 by over 95% in only 15 minutes.
