Think of Cumbria and you think of the Lake District. Think of the Lake District and your mind might wander (lonely as a cloud, should you wish) to the fells and mountains. And what could be better after a day in the hills than a pint of local beer to quench a thirst?
Thankfully, Cumbria has a lot of great independent breweries. Nearly forty, in fact.
So it stands to reason that we should help tell all those thirsty visitors about them?
A pitch win from client Cumbria Tourism and Taste Cumbria saw Plain Creative and beer writer associate Jeff Pickthall awarded the task of promoting the sector and Brewed in Cumbria was launched.
Along with the website, we also hosted beer pairing dinners for the hospitality trade to introduce the concept of pairing fine dining with great craft beer.
‘Tap Takeover’ events were also organised at strategic bars (North Bar in Leeds, Bacchus and Free Trade Inn in Newcastle), along with helping organise the beer festival at the Taste Cumbria Festival which showcased beers from every Cumbrian brewery.
Thirsty work? I’m sure there’s a beer for that…
